The International Winds and Percussion Festival is a build-up from a series of workshops and masterclasses that have been organised throughout these past few years by band clubs in Malta, currently known as Band Clubs 4 Youths.
The festival will start on Wednesday, 20th of September and ends on Sunday 24th of September with the Participants’ Concert. Throughout these intensive five days, participants will have the opportunity to work, and be tutored by world-renowned tutors, artists and special guests during a number of activities.
Participants may choose to attend one of the following classes either as passive or active participants. The classes will be led by the following tutors:
Clarinet – Sergio Bosi (IT)
Saxophone – Antonino Mollica (FR/IT)
Trumpet – Brendan Ball (UK)
Low Brass – David Thornton (UK)
Percussion – Rodolfo Rossi (IT)
Active participants will enjoy the following activities:
- Individual/Small Group Lessons
- Chamber Music sessions
- Talks, Workshops and Lectures led by the official tutors and special guests.
- Exhibition and possibility of trails of musical products
- Participation in the Participants’ Concert as a soloist or in an ensemble.

The number of active participants is limited. Though anyone can apply to participate, preference will be given to those participants that are less than 30 years of age. There is no limit of space and age for passive participants.
Every active participant has to pay a refundable deposit of €50 which is to be paid on acceptance of the application and will be refunded if the participants attend to all the activities.
Piano accompaniment will also be provided by the festival organisers – Ms. Elaine Mercieca will be the official accompanist of the festival.
The official timetable will be issued to the participants on the first day of the festival during an orientation meeting.
